Course Welcome
Welcome to this online professional development workshop for Greenon Local Schools teachers about student learning. This series of activities is based on the research by several psychologists and utilizes the book "Make it Stick" by Brown, Roediger, and McDaniel (2014). This Professional Development series has an assessment at the end of each session to measure your learning. The resource used for this assessment is called Quizlet. At the end of this series, you will be able to better understand effective learning strategies for your students.

Course Overview
The goal for this course is learn about effective strategies for student learning, while also considering current practices that are perceived as high quality. Each of the first four sessions contains common components such as: SMART learning goals, Content Summaries, Connections to K-12, and Suggestions for Implementation. As mentioned above, each of these sessions include a short assessment through Quizlet. The final session (Week 6) contains a YouTube video that summarizes the workshop. All weekly sessions can be accessed through the EDT 8110 tab in the upper left menu. NOTE: There is no content on this website for Week 5. That session will be a roundtable discussion completed at your building staff meeting in April.
Requirements for Completion
All participants should complete one lesson per week. We will be working over the next six weeks, as a staff, learning about these strategies. Begin each session by reviewing the S.M.A.R.T. goals. Focus on these goals for your own learning during the session. Read the content summaries, and check the reference section for the YouTube videos and any additional readings. The "Connections to K -12" and "Suggestions for Implementation" sections are available for you to consider how this would look in your classroom. Utilize the strategies described such as reflection to organize your thoughts about the implementation into your daily routines. Complete the formative assessment Quizlet tool for each session and strive for at least 80% on your scores. As you progress through the series, you may always revisit previous learning to help retrieval of your own new learning.
